“All that you say I will do” (Ruth 3:5).
In the book of Ruth the author’s agenda is to demonstrate that where the Israelites failed in the past (first, recalling the wilderness generation’s rebellion, and second, Judah’s relationship to Tamar) Ruth succeeded. The failure of the Israelites was a recapitulation of Adam’s fall. Ruth’s success anticipated the Messiah’s success.
